In India, vocational education through vocational courses are being offered in school in 11th and 12th slandered accordance with the board’s scheme of studies and the course structure. These courses are of two year, one year and six months durations like dairying, machinery, accounting, electrical, X-Ray technician, Beautician, tailoring etc. Vocational training extensively refers to certification level in any trade and helps to the students who had been left school after 8 or 12. Other patterns for regular skill belong to graduation or post graduation, technician level is supreme by polytechnic or diploma.
Technical education or trained profession requires entry level mandatory education and long tender for completing the course. Hence current education system results in the form where a large number of workers in unorganized economy of India have never been to school, college or vocational training centre. Hence, this education system excludes the underprivileged semi skilled workers.
As a result, there is imbalance in skilled manpower required and skilled manpower available leading towards magnification of production in all related industry. A lot of young general graduate are not getting technical hands on making a huge list of unemployed youth in India. Certainly, all said factors are affecting the country’s economical growth. Now, the number of graduate unemployed is more than the skilled workers in lieu of technical education. If this trend continues, it would hurt India’s economic growth in the long run.
